FleetPulse is transforming the transportation industry by making every mile safe and efficient. Our seamless integration of innovative hardware and data provides insights into operations, uptime, and safety for trucking fleet customers. Using FleetPulse’s telematics platform, fleet managers create a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future of freight.

The Quality Control (QC) Field Technician is responsible for conducting on-site inspections, testing, and monitoring of products, materials, and processes at customer locations, construction sites, or production facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards. This role requires an individual with strong attention to detail, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.

This job will require a unique combination of flexibility, troubleshooting, creativity, leadership, and drive. You will be part of a team of people who actively employ their knowledge and skillsets – and seek to learn additional skills – to intake, manage, document, solve, and escalate product issues as well as identify ways to improve support capabilities, product features, and user experience.

This position reports to the Head of Operations. This position is preferred to be in Savannah, GA close to Great Dane, FleetPulse’s trailer manufacturer integration partner. However, this position is open to being 100% remote for flexible travel and quick response to customer demand.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Filed Installation Requirements

· Perform product hardware installations for first fit “pilot” customers and projects requiring travel up to 90% monthly.

· Self-manage what is needed for each job: inventory, tools, travel, and familiarity of products to be an expert on hardware installation and performance.

· Perform software-to-hardware commissioning and firmware updating to manufacturer specifications.

2. Field Inspections and Testing:

· Perform field inspections on materials, products, and processes to verify quality and compliance with regulatory standards, specifications, and client requirements.

· Conduct routine testing (e.g., visual inspections, measurements, sample collection, etc.) on-site to monitor product quality and identify potential issues early in the process.

· Document and report any deviations from product quality standards and escalate them to the appropriate personnel.

3. Quality Assurance:

· Ensure trailer manufacturer activities adhere to product safety and quality protocols.

· Monitor trailer production processes to ensure product compliance with quality control procedures, standards, and industry best practices.

· Assist in performing corrective actions or recommend improvements when non-conformities are identified.

4. Data Collection and Reporting:

· Record and maintain accurate, up-to-date field data, test results, and inspection reports in the company’s database.

· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing product findings, trends, and any issues discovered during inspections.

· Compile statistical analysis and make recommendations for product quality improvements.

5. Client Interaction:

· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during on-site quality control activities.

· Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client questions and concerns regarding quality or compliance issues.

· Ensure that client specifications are met and document any changes or modifications needed during the project.

· As needed, train customer resources to be able to perform QC activities themselves.

6. Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:

· Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and properly maintained for accurate field testing.

· Conduct routine checks and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure functionality.

7. Compliance and Safety:

· Adhere to all safety standards and protocols while on-site to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to quality control and testing processes.

8. Training and Support:

· Provide training and guidance to FleetPulse Support Team, ensuring they understand quality control procedures and the performance and expectations of the product.

· Provide input on installation documentation.

· Stay updated on new QC techniques, industry trends, and regulations by attending relevant training and professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

· A positive, can-do, solutions-oriented attitude.

· Self-motivated drive to relentlessly problem solve and resolve stakeholder issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Certification in quality control, such as Six Sigma or ISO 9001.

· Certifications in commercial vehicle diagnostics, such as ASE, SAE or TMC.
