With ample financial backing and strong traction, we’re seeking a talented Director of Engineering to join us on the ground floor and help bring ultra-modern transportation technology to market.

The Role:

GoodShip is looking for a Director of Engineering to further supercharge development of our platform. You will be the first full-time engineering manager at the company. As such, you will be a pivotal leader responsible not only for guiding our technical strategy and driving the execution of our product roadmap, but will also define the role itself and chart a course for the engineering organization in collaboration with the CTO. In leading a growing engineering team, you will ensure alignment with business objectives, foster a culture of innovation, and optimize our development processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions, manage technical risks, and interface with stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow GoodShip’s software engineering team
• Manage the team and ensure each individual team member is set up for success
• Help the team develop and deliver on customer focused, high impact roadmaps that will delight internal and external customers
• Help build organizational processes that enable the engineering team to scale alongside the business
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence at GoodShip
• Build trust with team members and executive stakeholders to tackle cross functional problems

Qualifications:

• 7+ years managing software engineering teams operating at scale; ideal candidates will have managed teams in both startup and enterprise contexts
• Technical breadth and ability to quickly understand high level technical concepts and how they are applicable to business goals
• Demonstrated ability to up-level the standards and architecture of technical platforms
• Ability to think strategically across business, product, and technical domains
• Excellent project management skills to help teams deliver on time
• Strong people management skills to recruit, manage, and develop talent
• Strong communication skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders
